We were drawn to the act of pressing. To press is to flatten but the act of pressing can also provide definition to a surface or force detail from a person. You can press someone for information or you can ‘iron out’ traces of the past.
We used this dialogue with the verb “to press” as a means of extracting the narrative behind a closed ‘Pressing Shop’ and also as a means of exploring the nature of the printing press in two dimensional sense. We pressed information from a printing plate in the same way as we pressed information from neighbours next to the closed Pressing shop.
And we produced an object resulting from this inquiry which combined in different way these different meanings of the verb ” to press.”

Itchevan park’s viewpoint in Valence is a recycling of an old factory smokestack. It’s build with bricks, like in London. It aims to offer a view on the Rhône and Ardèche. Actually, it doesn’t. The immediate view is on the french A7 motorway, also called Motorway of the Sun. By installing panels which indicate and promote the presence of the motorway, I want to change the function of the place, as a way to repair or correct it.

A second panel must be installed somewhere around or in the viewpoint
